<image:caption>‘Studying Situational Interaction’ (2020) provides a bridge between strong complex theory about causal person-environment interaction in crime behaviour and the appropriate methods for empirically testing proposed situational mechanisms. It is underwritten by the principle that research should be driven by theory and served by method. I made a detailed summary document for those wanting to get a very quick understanding of what each of the chapters is about: SUMMARY VERSION. The book has been described as “essential reading for anyone interested in testing theories of action using ‘interaction effects’, not just in criminology.” by Clemens Kroneberg, Professor of Sociology at the University of Cologne. K. Ryan Proctor reviewed the book in Criminal Justice Review.</image:caption>

<image:caption>My co-authored book ‘Breaking Rules’ (with Wikström, Oberwittler and Treiber; 2012) uses data from the first 5 years of the Peterborough Adolescent and Young Adult Development Study to comprehensively study the social and situational dynamics of urban crime by young people. I’m proud of this book for the sheer volume of analysis on a wide range of topics that it contains, and the huge amount of work that went into producing it over many years. This book has been cited nearly 900 times and was described as "one of the most significant works in criminology in decades" by co-author of A General Theory of Crime, Professor Michael Gottfredson.</image:caption>

<image:caption>My 2017 PhD research entitled 'Why monitoring doesn't always matter’ studies the situational role of parental monitoring in adolescent crime. It reflects a particular and critical interest in the data collection and analytical methodology required for the analysis of situational interaction (the interaction between people and settings) and contributes to the development of the situational model of Situational Action Theory with regards parental monitoring. For this thesis, I was awarded the Nigel Walker Prize by the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge, for distinctive scholarly contribution to the field of Criminology. A number of my subsequent publications are rooted in this thesis, though the thesis itself still contains unique material. For a overview summary presentation of the content of my parental monitoring publications and how they are related to each other, see here.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I conducted the stand-alone 2005 Peterborough Community Survey as part of PADS+, and went on to conduct many fieldwork interviews with the PADS+ participants. From 2006-2020, as the Research Manager of PADS+, I was responsible for fieldwork staff and the collection, quality and management of PADS+ data, as well contributing to the development and application of the research instruments used and devised by the study.</image:caption>

      <image:title>History - Responsibilities.</image:title>
<image:caption>I was also responsible for the analysis and presentation of PADS+ spatial data using GIS, the training of international collaborative and replica study staff, and was jointly responsible for the co-ordination of the I-SAT (international comparison of tests of Situational Action Theory) project. I supervised and advised various students and visiting researchers who were using PADS+ data and the Situational Action Theory theoretical framework.</image:caption>

      <image:title>History - Skills.</image:title>
<image:caption>My 16 years varied work on this multi-method multi-level longitudinal study mean I am experienced in developmental and social ecological research methods and analytical techniques, as well as the operational demands of running a world-class large-scale longitudinal research study. This long-term work within the team at Cambridge means that I am a key proponent of Situational Action Theory, and have rare intricate knowledge of this complex but extremely powerful theory. A key strength is my ability to be able to see the specific relevance of SAT to a wide range of applications.</image:caption>
